A Limerick musician is
using the power of music to support children affected by conflict around the
world with the release of a new charity single.
Peter
O’Malley will release his latest track, Blood and Bone, on June 11,
with all proceeds from downloads being donated to UNICEF to help children
impacted by war.
The
song is a deeply personal project for O’Malley, who wrote, recorded, performed
and produced the entire track himself from his home studio. Demonstrating a
true independent spirit, he played all the instruments featured on the
recording and oversaw every stage of its production.
Speaking
about the release of this poetic song, O'Malley said it was inspired by the
devastating impact that armed conflicts continue to have on innocent children
across the globe.
“Blood
and Bone’ is my small way of trying to do something positive in the face of
so much suffering," he said. “Children are always the most vulnerable
victims of war, and I wanted to create something that might help, even in a
modest way.”
The
single combines emotive songwriting with a powerful message of compassion and
solidarity, highlighting the human cost of conflict while offering listeners an
opportunity to contribute directly to humanitarian efforts.
The
track has already been made available to preview on YouTube and will be
released across major streaming platforms including Spotify and iTunes.
However, those wishing to support the UNICEF fundraising effort are encouraged
to purchase the song through Bandcamp, where proceeds from downloads will go
directly towards the charity donation.
In
an era when independent artists increasingly have the tools to create and
distribute music from their own homes, O’Malley's project demonstrates how
creativity can be harnessed not only for artistic expression but also for
social good.
With
Blood and Bone, the Limerick musician hopes to raise both funds and
awareness for children whose lives have been torn apart by conflict, while
reminding listeners of the shared humanity that connects people across borders.
